Understanding Your Treatments

Aesthetics can feel like a world full of confusing names and jargon, Polynucleotides, Sunekos, Profilo, it's a lot to take in, and it's easy to feel like you need a medical degree just to choose a treatment. You don't. Here's what these treatments actually are, how they work, and how they might fit together, explained simply.

What does "collagen stimulation" actually mean?

As we get older, our skin naturally produces less collagen and elastin, the proteins that keep skin firm, plump, and bouncy. Collagen stimulation treatments don't add anything artificial, they work by gently encouraging your own skin to produce more of these proteins itself. Think of it as nudging your skin's natural repair system back into action, rather than masking the signs of ageing.

The treatments, explained

Microneedling

Mechanical

Works mechanically. Using very fine needles, we create tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This triggers your body's natural healing response, prompting it to produce fresh collagen as it repairs. It's a bit like how a graze heals stronger skin underneath, just done in a precise, controlled way.

Polynucleotides (Plinest)

Biochemical

Work biochemically. These are naturally derived molecules that act as a signal to your skin cells, encouraging them to regenerate and repair themselves. Rather than triggering a physical healing response like microneedling, they work more like a message telling your skin's cells to get back to work.

Sunekos

Biochemical

Also works biochemically, using a blend of amino acids and hyaluronic acid, essentially the raw building blocks your skin needs to produce its own collagen and elastin. Rather than adding volume, it supports your skin in doing the rebuilding itself.

Profilo

Biochemical

A bio-remodelling treatment. It spreads smoothly beneath the skin and works slowly over time to hydrate deeply and encourage firmness, helping skin that's lost some structure regain its support from within.

NCTF HA (Mesotherapy)

Biochemical

Think of this as a deep feed for your skin. Tiny amounts of hyaluronic acid are placed just beneath the surface, together with a blend of over 50 nourishing ingredients: vitamins, amino acids, minerals, coenzymes, nucleic acids and antioxidants. These are the building blocks your skin cells use every day to stay healthy and make collagen.

The hyaluronic acid draws in moisture, while the other ingredients support collagen production and help protect against everyday damage from sun and pollution. The result is skin that looks brighter, more hydrated and more even, with dullness and fine lines softened. It works best as a course of three sessions, two to four weeks apart.

Botox

Muscle-relaxing

Botox works differently again, it's a muscle relaxant, not a collagen stimulator. Rather than repairing or rebuilding skin, it temporarily softens the small muscle movements that create expression lines, like frown lines or crow's feet, so the skin above them sits smoother. It's a helpful tool for specific concerns, but it doesn't improve the underlying health or quality of your skin.

Obagi Blue Radiance Peel

Mechanical

This peel works mechanically too, but on the surface rather than beneath it. It gently resurfaces the outermost layer of skin, lifting away dull, congested skin cells to reveal fresher skin underneath. Used regularly, it can also encourage the skin's natural renewal cycle, helping texture, tone and clarity improve over time.

How I deliver your skin boosters

I use the Dermashine Pro, a precision injector, for skin boosters such as polynucleotides, Sunekos, and NCTF. Rather than one needle placing product by hand, it uses several very fine needles at once, placing the product at an exact, consistent depth every time.

Because the liquid is shared across more needles, each point receives less, so it spreads evenly and the skin barely notices. For you, that means less discomfort, very few bumps and almost no downtime, with smooth, even results.

Why we sometimes combine treatments

Because these treatments work through different mechanisms, mechanical (microneedling) versus biochemical (Polynucleotides, Sunekos, Profilo), combining them can support your skin from multiple angles at once, rather than relying on just one approach. This is why several of our Signature Programmes pair a mechanical treatment with a biochemical one: it's not about doing "more," it's about supporting your skin's natural repair process in more than one way.

There's no single right combination for everyone. What's right for your skin depends on your goals, your skin's current condition, and what you're hoping to achieve, which is exactly what we'll talk through together at your consultation.
